  • Cyphostemma juttae attains one of the largest sized caudex of all in the caudiciform collecting hobby. Possibly the only trees with larger trunks are the Baobab trees of southern Africa and Madagascar. C. juttae can grow to be as large as an average grown American man, achieving heights of 2 meters and a width of 14-16 inches in diameter.
  • The large red grape sized fruit are not edible.
  • It is a summer grower; flowers and fruit appear in late summer; then the leaves and fruit fall off and the trunk becomes baron. During this rest period it should be kept warm and dry. Some growers even unpot it, wrap it in a towel, then store it away for the winter. When spring come around they plant it again and it jumps back into like with peeling bark and a fatter trunk.
  • Sometimes they will develop holes in random locations. This does not mean the plant is croaking. Just stop watering, let the exposed fleshy area dry out and it will eventually grow fatter to cover up the holes.
  • You are bidding on the plant size shown. Depending the time of year of your order the leaves may not be present when the package arrives.
